"Never give in. Never give in. Never, never, never, never--in nothing, great or small, large or petty--never give in, except to convictions of honor and good sense. Never yield to force. Never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy." Winston Churchill, 1941

Yesterday I was speaking to a friend and he shared with me words that were profound and I felt I should share these words with you too. Life is a constant challenge and it is those that despite the challenge see the joy that is ahead and succeed in life. In life, it is easy to perceive the storms as destructive and wasteful. This friend was driving in an open road one day and he saw that he was driving into a strong wind which was carrying many objects in it. His first reaction was obviously to view this storm as a potential danger. As he started reacting, his inner voice spoke to him and said, "Don't afraid of the storm, it is carrying seed with it. Without it, there would be no cross-pollination."

Your storm is carrying a life giving seed

Your storm today is necessary; it must take you to the next level! You might say this is a strong statement but let's develop it further. As I was growing up, I never knew the purpose of the lightning. I actually thought it was wasted energy, un-harnessed potential that gives instant bright light and disappears as soon as it appears. Yesterday though, I was enlightened! I realized that even the lightning is necessary and it holds a great purpose in the great scheme of things. The lightning gives fertility to the soil and it is a good thing for plant life and for human life. The soil needs nitrates, which is a combination of oxygen and nitrogen. The only problem is that nitrogen is practically inert and it does not easily combine with other chemicals. It can only fuse with oxygen under intense heat. The intense heat generated by the lightning bolt causes the nitrogen in the air to combine with the oxygen. This also combines with some of the ammonia in the air and as the rain begins to fall, it gives life giving fertilizer to the soil.

When the lightning flashes and when the thunder roars, get ready for some fruitfulness

When the soil receives the rain, it in turn gives life to the seed! The seed is fertilized and the plants are energized for their full potential. The lightning that appeared threatening to them is a source of their growth. When the lightning flashes and when the thunder roars, get ready for some fruitfulness. Refuse to be frightened! If you were busy with something and it appears you have hit a storm don't give up, find a way through the storm. A pilot of a plane will either drop altitude or raise altitude, he doesn't land the plane. His mission is to get people to the next airport despite the threat of the storm.

Your life should not be cut off by that storm, there is still the best ahead of you and today you must be enthused with new strength. Storms will come in different forms and shapes; you might be in a business storm, relationship storm, educational storm, professional storm! Whatever shape or form of your storm, never, never give up!

I smell some change

The only constant thing in life is change. This means that whatever you are facing today is subject to change. There is no way it will remain like that. Today's ant hills were yesterday's mountains. They became ant hills because someone dared to challenge them. Sir Edmund Hillary was the first man to climb Mount Everest on 29 May 1953 . He was knighted for his efforts. Normally this is all we are told but we must rewind back to a year before, 1952! He attempted to scale the 29,000 ft mountain but failed. He was invited to speak to a group of people who recognized his wonderful attempt at greatness. He had no words to say because he felt he was a failure but there is something he said and did which I believe was the foundation of his 1953 success. He made a fist and pointed at a picture of the mountain and in a loud voice he said, " Mount Everest , you beat me the first time, but I will beat you the next time because you have grown all you are going to grow... but I am still growing." You are growing everyday of your life and the truth is the same can't be said of your mountain. Tap into that growth and access the brand new strategies it is offering you.

You failed because you said you would fail

The storm must break your spirit first before it breaks your bones. If it fails to break your spirit, there is no hope for it ever breaking your bones. In the middle of the storm, refuse to lose your heart! In you is the stuff that champions are made of. Every champion that I know was ordinary at one point until they dared their mountain. Their victory resounded in the globe and they received recognition for it. If you analyzed them before the success, you would not at all be their friend, let alone admire them. A lasting legacy is born and bred in the storm! You failed because you imagined failure, you saw failure, you spoke failure and you became a failure.

Never give in, never give in...let these words reverberate in your spirit today. Never give in, never give up...NEVER!
